My early years were in Eaton, Ohio. I graduated high school, spent time attending university & college classes. I was an army man, after which I joined NCR, leaving in the late 60's. My name is spelled "H-E-R-B-E;" pronounced Herbie OR Herb. Because I was working as a professional musician/entertainer, the suggestion was that "HERBE" would be distinctive in print. So, "HERBE" stuck! My music career led me to performances in nightclubs, arenas, and special functions. Nashville was the site for many of my recording sessions. For 2 years, I was on the air at WBZI Radio, FM 95.3. I appeared with my band, "The Smith Boys" for a summertime TV schedule. I owned a prominent night club, "The Music Man," in Kettering, Ohio. While it's an absolute truth that for 30+ years, I've enjoyed selling real estate, it remains an absolute truth that I still enjoy entertaining. . . . singing, playing guitar & piano! |
